I’m beginning to notice the sky is starting to getting darker a little earlier each day, and I’ve noticed that it has been lower on the horizon when I’ve been out watching evening soccer games.
This evening, it was incredible to watch the sun go from blazing over head in the blue sky, and then gradually fade into oranges and pinks by the end of the game. The temperature also shifted quickly as the sun began to sink lower and lower on the horizon.
It was incredible to truly watch the passage of time, connected to the setting sun as the backdrop to the soccer game.

As I watched the sun getting lower and lower on the horizon, I was reminded of a video I had seen on the Weather Network awhile ago to help you know how long until sunset… unfortunately I wasn’t able to remember the details while I was on the soccer pitch to try out the experiment.
After I was home this evening, I was able to search the video… so the next time I’m out watching the setting sun, I’m going to try the experiment - by simply lining up my fingers on the horizon.
If you are curious in investigating and doing this experiment also, here’s the link to check out to the “sunset hack”.
The sun is always there as a guide, a beacon (even if it is hiding behind the clouds), and it is fascinating to witness the movement of the sun through its cycle of the day and the shifts throughout the year.
I was reflecting back to the winter solstice when I spent a day noticing and tracking the movement of the sun throughout the day, in a very different season.
Noticing the Sun's Winter Path Across the Sky
After a few snowy, cloudy days the sun was out in all its glory today… bringing along beautiful blue skies and frigid temperatures! Often the sunniest days, are also the coldest, but it was fascinating to watch the sun travel the sky today.
