Winter solstice, the longest night of the year as now the days begin to lengthen with more light again. Today also marks an entire season that I have been writing and sharing little reflections every day.
As the seasons shift, I have been pondering some of the themes to what I’ve noticed through this past season. I have noticed the shifting in the amount of light more dramatically this season, I have noticed how many little moments being out in nature and walking capture my attention, and I have noticed how the discipline to show up everyday has been very grounding. It has shifted through the days and months, and here’s bit of where it all began…
Today, as we decorated our annual gingerbread houses, each of us creating something very different from the same six pieces of cookie.
What makes me feel at home, is different than what makes you feel at home; and yet what is similar? Feelings of comfort, safety, and love. And when we can find that home within ourselves, we can find home and feel at home wherever we go. I am noticing that having daily practices like writing, begin to feel like coming home to myself every day.
When the rest of the world can feel chaotic and overwhelming, having this practice of noticing each day and writing about something or things that I have noticed each day has been more supportive, nourishing, grounding and I have found more joy and gratitude in the small, simple moments of life the fill my heart and my soul and I feel more whole and more at home. And for that I am so incredibly grateful.
I am also so grateful to have the opportunity to write and share my musings, and grateful for you for joining me along this journey and reading! I looked back over some of the most read posts through the past three months and compiled a little reading list below if you missed some of them…
October 9 - A simple shift in perspective makes a big difference

I’m curious about what the next season of noticing might bring, but now it is time embrace and embody the solstice, and rest on this longest night of the year.
