Today I noticed joy.
I noticed joy and relief in the gently falling rain, the first rain in weeks and I appreciated the way the soft raindrops nourished my vegetables.
I noticed joy in walking in the rain, and felt fresh and alive when the raindrops touch my skin with a light touch.
I noticed joy as the sky began to clear, blue emerging for the first time in days as the rain had swept away some of the smoky, hazy skies… at least for now.
I noticed joy in the sparkle of water droplets left behind by the rain, and it is only because the temperatures were cooler and the sun remained hidden behind some clouds that the raindrops lasted most of the day, like jewels upon different leaves.

I wondered if the plants experienced joy with the delicate touch of the raindrops, and how magically they seemed to defy gravity in their wondrous little drops - not falling or sliding, simply remaining in one place. It seemed as though the leaves had been painted with speckles of water, like little jewels adorning each little leaf.
I noticed joy in the preciousness of this moment, before the raindrops evaporated, slid down or were blown away… in this moment, the droplets simply stood still to share a moment of beauty, of joy, and love, just like the heart-shaped puddle…
Joy is noticing unexpected gifts!

Here’s another post about noticing joy in the winter season:
So glad you got a gentle rain today! Such joy to feel relief from high temperatures and hazy skies! We have had low temps and regular downpours of moisture in Niagara! Spring plantings are delayed and farmers check the forecast and the skies repeatedly each day! Such a different experience. I too noticed the water droplets on the hosta leaves. Magnificent! What a wonder that they don’t roll off immediately! Like a game of catch and release 🤣 I can imagine the creator laughing at the little joys created for us to discover and enjoy!😊
