In the field at the community center, I noticed a small white butterfly flying around, maybe curious about the riveting game of soccer baseball (aka kickball) we were playing… or maybe it was one of the few places where a few dandelions were blooming to gather nectar.
As the small, white cabbage butterfly fluttered and danced around our heads, it also periodically rested (and maybe nourished itself) on the few flowers in the field.
I noticed that in many ways, this butterflies behaviour mimicked ours…
… play for awhile, then pause and rest.
(We rested on a bench instead of a flower, but to each their own!)
… enjoy a refreshing drink.
(We enjoyed ice water from a thermos, while the butterfly enjoyed nectar from a flower)
… continue flitting around and enjoy playing in the sun!
We are similar, but different… as we both enjoyed some of the simple and most foundational aspects of living - play, eat, rest!
