One day last week I was listening to a podcast (unfortunately I can’t recall which one at the moment to give credit), but I wrote down something the host shared because it sparked something for me, “Create joy through simplicity”.
This thought has been simmering in my mind over the past week, and I’ve noticed this showing up numerous times over the past week in something I’ve said to someone else, in my own thoughts and musings, in what I notice around me, and even when I’m prioritizing what to do next.
I find joy in the simplicity of noticing which birds are coming to my bird feeder each day… and today I enjoyed the company of some sparrows and a nuthatch.
Today I noticed I found joy in the simplicity of having a very hot shower, warming every morsel of me that was feeling chilled after spending a few hours in the curling rink, and the coldest winds that we’ve had in many, many months.
Today, I found joy in the simplicity of finding a parking spot RIGHT across the street from the store I needed to pop into for a quick purchase.
I have also been finding joy in the simplicity of the two wreaths that I created and decorated at a friend’s place a few days ago. A few of us got together and made wreaths (something none of us had attempted before), and we all brought some supplies, and I found myself enjoying the “less is more” concept and embracing the simplicity of adding a few elements and leaving space - savouring the simplicity.

And today I noticed, when I look at these wreaths, it makes me smile as I find joy in the simplicity of the design, and in the fact that I was able to make these with things that were laying about and cost nothing at all!
Today I’m embracing the idea to “Create joy through simplicity”, and I’ll leave it there with an invitation for you to notice and to savour creating joy through simplicity… and am curious what you are noticing!
